Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a neurological (central nervous system) disorder characterised by seizures and short periods of unusual behaviour, sensations and loss of consciousness at times, due to disruption of the nerve cell activity in the brain.

Types of Seizures

When seizures appear to result from abnormal activity in just one area of your brain, they’re called focal seizures. These seizures fall into two categories:

Focal Seizures
Generalised Seizures

Brain & Spine Surgery

We have facilities like CT Scan, EEG and MRI Scan which enables diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of patients. We also have equipments like Microscope, Neuro drill and Intro Operation C-Arm facility available to facilitate various surgical procedures. Developmental Anamolies of both Brain and Spine are being operated.

Micro – Neurosurgery

Microsurgery describes an array of procedures in which the neuro surgeons use a high-powered operating microscope along with specialized instruments to operate on delicate structures in the brain.

Surgery for the Acute Head Injury and Spinal Injuries

We have an emergency and trauma care team at our causality department who are very experienced in handling any type of acute head or spinal injuries 24/7.

The first few hours after a head / spinal injury is very important and how we manage the injury dictates the patient recovery.

Emergency surgeries are performed if needed.

Management of Stroke & Prevention

A stroke, is caused by the sudden loss of blood flow to the brain or bleeding inside the head. Each can cause brain cells to stop functioning or die. When nerve cells in the brain die, the function of body parts they control is harmed or lost. Depending on the part of the brain affected, people can lose speech, feeling, muscle strength, vision, or memory. Some people recover completely; others are seriously disabled or die.

Skull Base Surgery

Tumours of the skull base are the most difficult to treat. These Surgeries are complex due to the critical location of the tumour in terms of proximity to vital blood vessels, nerves and requires a team of surgeons.

These surgeries require a team of Neurosurgeon, Head & Neck surgeon, Plastic surgeon and Vascular surgeon with the latest equipments.

Neuro - Intensive Care

A neuro-ICU is an intensive care unit devoted to the care of patients with immediately life-threatening neurological problems. The field of neurointensive care covers more than just a wide range of diseases. It also requires specialized knowledge about certain mechanics of the body, such as how the brain controls its blood flow and intracranial pressure. It also requires knowledge of neurological tools such as electroencephalography, which are added to the more typical understandings of ventilator mechanics, cardiac telemetry and intensive blood pressure monitoring and other techniques more typical of a general ICU.
