Nephrology

The medical field of nephrology deals with kidney disease diagnosis, management, and therapy. Kidney failure and kidney stones are common medical conditions. Comprehensive treatment for kidney problems linked to other illnesses and conditions, like diabetes and hypertension, is another aspect of nephrology.

Kidney Transplant

A kidney transplant is a surgical procedure to place a kidney from a live or deceased donor into a person whose kidneys no longer function properly.

Dialysis

Dialysis is a treatment where the functions of the kidney are replicated by the dialysis process in situations where the kidneys have failed to function normally.

Hemodialysis

A hemodialyzer machine removes waste, excess chemicals, and fluid from your blood during hemodialysis. Your blood vessels are accessed in order to get your blood into the machine. Your arm or leg undergoes minimal surgery to do this. It’s also done occasionally to connect an artery and a vein under the skin to create a larger blood vessel called a fistula.

Peritoneal Dialysis

Your blood gets cleaned inside of your body during this sort of dialysis. To gain access, a catheter made of plastic is inserted into your abdomen. Dialysate is steadily injected through the catheter into the peritoneal cavity during the course of the procedure. The blood remains in the peritoneal cavity’s arteries and veins. Your blood is drained of extra fluid and waste products and put into a solution called dialysate. Dialysis may be combined with plasma exchange to filter undesirable proteins and clotting factors. It is possible to utilise charcoal hemofiltration, a dialysis-like method where wastes are removed from blood using a layer of charcoal.
